Tata chief praises NBN, urges more IT industry skills

The universities are not doing enough real-world industry training of students and Australia needs a national broadband network to drive innovations and compete on a global scale.  They are the views of Varun Kapur, the Australia and New Zealand general manager of Indian Outsourcing giant Tata Consulting Services.  The todays leading engineers are trying to avoid roadblocks and building a national broadband network for Australia would remove a lot of barriers.  People will be able to work to drive innovation regional parts of Australia that will become brighter with broadband.

In 50 countries, TCS has about 140,000 staff.  For the IPL cricket tournament and Tata’s work with Qantas the Australian Computer Society’s Young Information Technology professionals Conference in Sydney, Kapur cited analysis work done in Sydney, this is to enable online ticketing and check-ins for overseas destinations as examples of Information Technology services globalization.  Tata has recruited some 150 people in the past two years and hire graduates by building relationships and going to universities for the internship programs.

They need to look at the university curriculum as it needs to be more aligned with the needs of the industry.  The talent is right but in recent years the uptake of Information Technology has been low and more agility is important.  Tata also collaborates with the ACS to get access to the finite amount of talent.   The smith family train a high school students from under privileged background.

The outsourcing brings a host of advantage s like people can save big, it take advantage of the cost benefits,  it get access to specialized services, then it reduce time to delivery benefit from time zone advantages then scale operations up or down without the hassle of hring and training, improved customers satisfaction due to the high quality and fast delivery and see an increase in the business.
