In India, top 20 outsourcing companies grew by 13 percent in 2010-2011 and posted revenues worth. The industry is going through a transformational phase as it leverages a new technologies like cloud computing and focus on emerging on emerging markets. The Business Process Outsourcing industry is going through a major transformation with the initiatives like building a greater onshore capability, leveraging the cloud model and focusing on emerging markets.
The top 20 firms also generated 13 percent more jobs in 2010-2011 by employing 3,11,167 people and maintaining a revenue productivity of about Rs.10 per employee a year. The top outsourcing firms lagged behind the growth of 25 percent posted by top 20 Information Technology firms in 2010-2011. The list of the top 20 outsourcing firms was headed by the Genpact which grew at 24 percent with revenues of Rs. 5,680 crore in 2010-201.
With the revenues of Rs 3,928 crore to occupy the no.2 slot in a list of top 20 Business Process Outsourcing exporters in India. The Business Process Outsourcing arm of India’s software numero uno TCS grew a rad faster at 25 percent. The third position in the top revenue firms was taken by Essar group company Aegis Business Process Outsourcing which grew at 28 percent with the revenues of Rs. 2,352 crore. The rankings are based on the entire revenue of the firms other than that of their Indian domestic operations.
The Business Process Outsourcing is the contracting of a business task to a third party services provider. The back-office outsourcing refers to internal business functions like billing or purchasing. The front office outsourcing includes customer-related services such as technical support, marketing and customer service. The focus is on the Business Process Outsourcing on reducing transaction costs, optimizing process efficiency and providing size and scale to handle a large volume of transaction processing engagements. Business Process Outsourcing in India, have outsourced their distribution or marketing to third parties for centuries.
